Building a Product Prototype
February 20, 2015
A product prototype is basically the first stage of a product’s production. It is the product, only without any input from marketing departments, or without any effort having been put in to enhance the aesthetics or usability of the product.
Even though this is the case for most prototypes (or the first prototype anyway), you can still get a solid idea of what the product will be, because, arguably, the most important part of a product’s design has been accomplished; you’ve gone through the process of solving a problem with your product; that’s finished and you’ve got the theory down, and you’ve now proven it is possible to build.
After you’ve reached this point in the product design, you still have a lot of important decisions to make about the product. You need to take the pure, basic product and make it really user friendly and improve its appearance, before you’ll be able to declare it a success.
